8 Ways To Re-Use Your Old Toothbrush
By Buttercup 7 Day Dental 20th Dec 2016
When was the last time you bought a new toothbrush? If you can’t remember, then it’s probably time to get yourself a new one!
If you brush your teeth as much as you should (twice a day: in the morning, and before you go to bed) you should be changing your toothbrush at least once every 3rd month.
If you’re a keen bean when it comes to reducing, reusing and recycling, then this blog is for you!
Before we crack on with our great list of things that you could use your old toothbrush for, we should say that there’s obviously no going back. As soon as you’ve used your toothbrush for something else, it should go nowhere near your mouth!
#1 Got Some Old Jewelry That Needs A Shine?
Your old toothbrush will do the job just fine! Get some Brasso and start brushing up your old treasures. They’ll look brand new, and all the brushing and scrubbing will give you a bit of exercise.
#2 Dirty Keyboard? Probably!
Studies have shown that a keyboard is often dirtier than a toilet seat. Good news is that it’s super easy to keep on top of your keyboard-hygiene. Use an old toothbrush to brush away crumbs and whatever else falls into your keyboard and wipe it afterwards with an alcohol wipe.
#3 The Toilet..
When you’re cleaning the toilet there are always those ‘hard to reach places’ like the hinges. An old toothbrush is much smaller than a sponge or a toilet brush, and it works a treat in reaching those unreachable places.
#4 The Shoes That Were Once White
If you like being outdoors you’ll probably know the pain of getting dirt off your shoes and soles. The old toothbrush is great for brushing all the old dirt out of all the small cracks. Add a bit of toothpaste and your white trainers could be as white as new again.
#5 Painting The World A Better Place
Are you painting the next Mona Lisa or do you paint to wind down after a busy day? A toothbrush is a fun addition to your brush collection. You can use it to spray paint on a canvas or just use it as a normal brush.
#6 Cleaning Grout Grime
Is the grout grime between your bathroom tiles your worst nightmare? Maids.com say grab a rag, a toothbrush, some vinegar, and you’re in business! Scrub away.
#7 The Manicure Miracle
An old toothbrush can do miracles for your nails, whether you’re a boy or a girl, have long or short nails. You can use it to clean the dirt away from under your nails, or to clean up your cuticles. If your cuticles are brittle and dry, add a little oil and exfoliate using your toothbrush.
#8 Bike Maintenance
Do you like shredding forest trails, are you a roadie, or do you just go on your bike for a bit of fresh air? Regardless of how and what you use your bike for, a toothbrush is a great addition to your bicycle cleaning kit and can be a big help when you’re trying to get grease of your chain!
