Invisalign Glasgow,
Want to know more about Invisalign? A short FAQ about these invisible aligners
By Hannah Kemp 04th Aug 2021
When it comes to adult-based orthodontics, there is something for everyone!
Even if you have a severe misalignment, many dental teams can offer you the choice of lingual braces or even clear ones, which will straighten your teeth while being discreet.
But, if you have a mild to moderate misalignment, then you will probably be suitable for treatment with an invisible aligner. Removable, custom-fitted and visually discreet, invisible aligners are growing in popularity among adults and teenagers alike, so if you want to see if you are suitable for them, talk to our team.
At Buttercup 7 Day Dental, we know more about invisible aligners than most dental teams and can offer our suitable patients Invisalign Glasgow. During the assessment, we will take a 3D scan of your teeth, to assess how they need to be moved and to predict how many aligners will be needed. Then, you receive the aligner through our clinic, pop it in and your treatment begins! It really is that simple!
But of course, you may have some questions about Invisalign Glasgow. Here, we answer 5 of the FAQs we receive about this treatment for your information.
How do you clean the aligners?
As Invisalign Glasgow is removable, it is easier to clean than a regular brace.
But there are still some tips to follow to prevent damaging the aligners. Firstly, rinse them under a cool tap to prevent warping and be sure to clean them using a soft-bristled brush. Refrain from using mouthwashes, as these can alter the colour of the aligners, removing the visual advantages of the clear plastic.
How many hours per day do I need to wear them for?
Our team at Buttercup 7 Day Dental recommends wearing these aligners for 22 hours per day.
But don’t worry! As they are made from smooth but malleable plastic, they are comfortable enough to wear to bed. If you don’t stick to the 22 hours per day rule, you can slow the treatment time and may cause your teeth to relapse into their former positions.
How do they work without metal or adjustments?
This aligner works with the help of computer programming.
When we send the scans to the dental laboratory, the computer software moves the scan of your teeth into the correct alignment, making a set of aligners to complete that task. Once printed, you place the aligners over your teeth and the tightness of the aligner moves the teeth into the desired position.
Can I skip an aligner?
Even if you feel that there is no need for one of your aligners, you must wear it.
Failing to do so can cause your teeth to move incorrectly, and may cause issues with the overall alignment.
How often will I need to have a check-up?
You will need to see our team for check-ups with an invisible aligner every 6-8 weeks.
There is also an app for smartphones, where you can send our team selfies of your smile so we can assess progress. Perfect!
